隨著時代的改變、社會文化思潮的變遷，博物館不再只是藏品、文物的保存者，而藏品除了置於典藏庫房內，更應該提升其可及性，讓更多觀眾能夠親近，以擴增藏品的意義與價值，不但能讓夠讓這些藏品發揮原有歷史及自然物證的價值外，更能在當代社會成為與民眾溝通的重要媒介。
本館典藏館開放式收藏庫於107年3月竣工，518博物館日時試行對外開放，獲得良好迴響，故擬擴大辦理開放事宜。
“Sustainable Ocean” is the vision of museum. In order to promote Badouzi area and Wang Haixiang Bay as demonstration area of “sustainable ocean”, the museum carries a connotation of marine science and technology to fulfill the core values of exhibition, education, research and collection, and combines with lifelong learning and entertainment. The Badouzi area began to change.

※溫馨提醒，潮境公園假日較多車潮，建議預留進場時間，或車停主題館區地下室停車場，後再行走路前往。
